First Chinese Human Clinical Images Available with OCTIS™ Thanks to Tomophase Incorporation and Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Disease

Guangzhou, China – May 02, 2014 – Tomophase Incorporation, a leading developer of minimally invasive optical coherence tomography (OCT) tissue imaging devices, announced today that Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Disease (GIRD), the State Key Laboratory of China has taken the first OCTIS images in clinical patients with the Tomophase OCT Imaging System (OCTIS™) in China.


On Friday, May 2nd Tomophase OCTIS was used for the first time to examine the airways of a patient undergoing bronchoscopy at GIRD. The following day another patient was examined. The clinicians were quite intrigued of the results and plan to do further work in due course.

The Tomophase OCTIS was used by Dr. Chen Yu, and deployed under the direction of Professor Zhong Nanshan, the academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, one of the most famous experts in China respiratory tract, the former president of the Chinese Medical Association.
