Reproductive tract

The female reproductive tract includes unique and complex plumbing organs, including the urethra, vagina, cervix, uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes. The female reproductive tract is a new and major potential application of OCTIS® because female patients make up half of the population and gynecological diseases are very common around the world. However, many gynecological diseases in the female reproductive tract rely mainly on radiological (ultrasonography and/or X-ray) and cytology (smear, brush, staining, etc.) screening, but biopsy, histological examinations & pathological diagnosis prior to determining medical and surgical treatment is necessary and appropriate. Due to its low resolution and lack of specific markers for early detection, current screening methods are insensitive, in addition biopsy methods are invasive and random, and pathological studies are laborious and time consuming. Therefore, there is an urgent need for better real-time screening and diagnostic methods, and OCTIS®  has great potential in the clinical application of reproductive medicine.

The innovative and unique catheter design of Winstar's OCT catheter in the reproductive tract produces images in the most natural and appropriate sampling state of the tissue. It can be applied to the observation, assessment and diagnosis of three-dimensional microstructure of the luminal wall tissue, especially for female reproduction channel and uterine wall. OCT catheters with the OCTIS®  system are expected to be applied to at least early diagnosis of female reproductive tract diseases such as endometrial polyposis, fibroids, endometrial cystic lesions, monitoring of surgical or medical treatment effects, prognosis, biopsy, surgery and the precise positioning of the cutting area, etc.
